House Agriculture Committee’s approximate $21 billion cut to SNAP will threaten children and families who are struggling with hunger.
Oregon Food Bank responded sharply today to a proposal from the House Agriculture Committee that would limit access to hunger-relief benefits during a time of unprecedented need in our region.
Oregon Hunger response day a huge success!

On April 18, 120 food bankers from throughout Oregon converged on the state Capitol in Salem for Oregon Hunger Response Day. Food Bank clients wrote more than 1,000 messages on paper plates asking elected officials to make food a priority. Food bank leaders delivered the messages throughout the day, meeting with 76 state legislators and their staff members to gain support for OFB's legislative agenda. Many, many thanks to all participants for making this day so successful!
OFB visits Capitol Hill to highlight important federal nutrition programs

In early March, a contingent of OFB staff traveled to Washington, DC for visits with all of the Oregon congressional offices as well as Rep. Jamie Herrera Beutler, who represents Clark County, Washington. The group stressed the importance of preventing harmful cuts to the federal nutrition programs that provide critical assistance to people experiencing hunger.
Susannah Morgan speaks on the effects of childhood hunger

On Tuesday, February 12th, Oregon Food Bank CEO Susannah Morgan testified before the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners on the effects of childhood hunger and innovative programming for public-private partnership to fight childhood hunger. Susannah was a member of four-person panel including Oregon First Lady Cylvia Hayes, Oregon Hunger Task Force executive director Patti Whitney-Wise, and Portland City Commissioner Dan Saltzman.
Working toward tax subtractions for crop donations

On Feb. 1, Phillip Kennedy-Wong, OFB public policy advocate, and FOOD for Lane County staff and partners met with Rep. Phil Barnhart (HD 11) at FOOD for Lane County headquarters. They discussed SB 430, a bill that provides tax subtractions for crop donations to charitable organizations.
