Northwest Farmers Fighting Hunger

Date and Time: Sunday, June 1, 7:00 AM, to Monday, June 30, 7:00 AM

Hunger Doesn’t Take A Summer Vacation!

What is Northwest Farmers Fighting Hunger?

During summer, the need for food and donations increases when children have less access to school breakfast and lunch.  Some take advantage of Summer Meals Program, but the need is still great.

Northwest farmers will fight hunger throughout June Dairy Month by raising food and funds in partnership with Fred Meyer stores.  The campaign pits Oregon against Washington state to see who can raise the most food and funds for Oregon Food Bank Network, Food Lifeline and Second Harvest.  The winning state will be granted with Director’s Trophy, awarded to the respective Director of the State Department of Agriculture. Cash donations will help get more nutrient-rich foods, like milk, cheese and yogurt to hungry families.

How can I Help?

Make a Donation

Collection bins will be in place in Fred Meyer stores and cash donations can be made at Fred Meyer checkout registers and on  A little does a lot. For every $10 donated, your local food bank can distribute enough food to provide 35 meals.

Spread the Word

Help Oregon raise more funds and food than Washington state.  Encourage your social network of friends, colleagues and family to support the cause.  Shareable content is available from Northwest Farmers Fighting Hunger on Facebook.
