At the request of Feeding America, Oregon Food Bank has sent Dee Morasco, OFB’s inventory manager, to Hauppauge, N.Y., to share her expertise with Island Harvest Food Bank as the area recovers from Hurricane Sandy.
Morasco, who lives in Amboy, Wash., has worked at Oregon Food Bank as an inventory specialist for more than a decade.

Hunger in Oregon continued to hover far above the national average as the Great Recession battered Oregon's economy, according to the 2009 hunger report released today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

State employees once again stepped up to the plate in a difficult economy to raise the equivalent of 4.3-million pounds of food during the Governor’s State Employee’s Food Drive for the Oregon Food Bank Network. That’s the equivalent of more than 100 semi-truck loads.

Tanasbourne Whole Foods Market’s Community Day raised more than $1,180 to help fight hunger in Washington County. The donation is the result of the store’s commitment to donate 5 percent of net sales that were earned on its Community Day, Jan. 13.
