Updated guidelines for attendees at Waterfront Park July 3-6 include factory-sealed water, limited bag size and no coolers; in line with large festival practices
Oregon Food Bank announced safety updates for the 27th annual Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival presented by First Tech Federal Credit Union held July 3 - 6, 2014 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. In keeping with best practices for events and festivals around the nation, updates include (but are not limited to) no hard-sided coolers, no large blankets or tarps, no high-backed chairs and limited outside beverages.
Instead, festival attendees are encouraged to bring a soft backpack smaller than 16x16x8 inches, a blanket no larger than 6x8 feet, a chair with seat up to 12 inches off the ground and two factory-sealed water bottles.
"Our updates in security reflect similar changes being made at large festivals across the country," said Laura Golino de Lovato, director of development, marketing and communications at Oregon Food Bank. "Our first and foremost concern is the safety and security of our supporters while attending this 4th of July community celebration."
