House Agriculture Committee’s approximate $21 billion cut to SNAP will threaten children and families who are struggling with hunger.
Oregon Food Bank responded sharply today to a proposal from the House Agriculture Committee that would limit access to hunger-relief benefits during a time of unprecedented need in our region.

Ford Motor Company Fund and Oregon Food Bank announced today a grant of $100,000 as part of the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign. The donation is one of six grants to food banks across the Pacific Northwest intended to address the growing issue of childhood hunger in this country.
"There is nothing more heart-wrenching than a child going hungry," said Bess Wills, dealer at Gresham Ford. "We are thankful that Ford Motor Company Fund is taking steps to address this growing problem and Gresham Ford is proud to support this effort.”

More than a hundred food bankers from every corner of Oregon converged on Salem today to deliver more than a thousand paper plates, each filled with a message from a constituent (see examples above) and to ask legislators to invest in the state’s partnership with the Oregon Food Bank Network through the Oregon Hunger Response Fund.
“It takes the commitment and resources of all sectors – public, private and nonprofit – to fight hunger in Oregon,” says Susannah Morgan, CEO, Oregon Food Bank.
