PGE works collaboratively nonprofits and other organizations in an effort to meet the needs of their community and achieve their business goals. With great consideration, they invest in programs and sponsor events that reflect their customers’ values, employees’ community interests, and their company’s business priorities.
During Fiscal Year 11-12, PGE Foundation donated funds to help OFB purchase emergency food and began a larger conversation about support of sustainable and prevention-focused methods of hunger relief.
As a result, during FY 12-13, PGE Foundation generously donated to OFB’s Learning Gardens, supporting vibrant gathering spaces that bringing the community together to grow vegetables, relationships and hope.
PGE employees are connected to OFB’s mission and the communities we both serve. Collectively, PGE employees and families donated over 600 volunteer hours and 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food to OFB last year.
“PGE employees are focused on both the immediate and long range efforts to eliminate hunger, and we couldn’t do this without them,” says Sarah Schirmer, OFB’s corporate and foundation relations developer. “From volunteerism, support of signature events such as Oregon Harvest Dinner, to issuing an OFB remit envelope to all PGE customers, Portland General Electric earns a top recognition spot for OFB.”
From all of us at Oregon Food Bank, a big thank you to PGE for all that you do in our community … because no one should be hungry.
