  • Corporate donor of the month: Regence

    Thank you, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon for engaging in hunger relief by donating food, time and money to our collective community effort. Regence employees provided 1,355 meals through a food drive and volunteered a total of 359 hours repacking food. In addition, Regence and their employees made substantial financial contributions to Oregon Food Bank. These elements alone established a position in the coveted Corporate Donor of the Month program, however, there is a deeper thread that entwines Regence and Oregon Food Bank that bears mention.

  • Local governments help raise awareness during September's Hunger Action Month

    This September, Oregon Food Bank and Metro area governments unite to raise awareness of the thousands of Oregonians who struggle with hunger. It’s part of a nationwide campaign in recognition of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month – a month-long campaign to help end hunger in our community. 

    Participating in Hunger Action Month is an opportunity to join a movement that has a real and lasting impact on Oregon Food Bank's efforts to feed Oregonians experiencing hunger.

  • RECALL ALERT: Peanut Butter and Almond Butter

    August 20, 2014

    Oregon Food Bank is alerting recipients of food through the Oregon Food Bank Network and associated partner agencies, pantries and community kitchens of a voluntary recall of peanut butter and almond butter due to a potential Salmonella contamination.

    The recall, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), includes products with BEST BY dates of July 21, 2015 or earlier.  Full details here.

The best lineup in 27 years, fantastic weather, dedicated sponsors, thousands of enthusiastic volunteers, and generous blues fans came together to make the 2014 Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival a spectacular success.

  • More school pantries will open

    Accessing food pantries will soon get a whole lot easier for many families living in Portland. Oregon Food Bank’s School Pantry Program recently received funding from the Portland Children’s Levy. The $1.282 million will help maintain seven existing pantries in the city of Portland and allow for the addition of 11 more over the next three years.

    Over a year ago, Oregon Food Bank started work on a new strategic plan. It began with input from many people involved with the organization including donors, volunteers, staff, and members of the Oregon Food Bank Network. Then through research of trends in food banking and identification of key goals, a direction emerged. Starting with this newsletter, we’ll share our new direction and its key areas of focus: Food = Health, Food = Community, and Food = Strength.

  • Corporate Donor of the Month: Ford

    Ford Motor Company Fund and Ford Dealerships have partnered with the Oregon Food Bank Network with a focus on child hunger. Last year Ford helped provide kid friendly foods which were distributed throughout the state. Funding was provided again to purchase kid specific foods such as milk, juice, cereal and applesauce. Never settling on status quo, Ford asked, "how can we do more?"
