Benefits and protections

Donation of goods may benefit donors

The major benefit from donating food is the satisfaction that comes from seeing things used instead of wasted. But donors may receive direct and indirect financial benefits as well.

Benefits

  • Reduces storage costs. Savings can be substantial.
  • Reduces dumping costs. The Metro Regional government estimates that typical dumping costs for businesses are $125 per ton.

Protections
If we receive donated packaging with brands or the suppliers' names, we can add our label stating that the food in the bag or box comes from Oregon Food Bank.

We give receipts to all donors.
