Mingle, Mingle, Mingle
Summary: This team-building activity teaches
participants about hunger statistics in Oregon and Clark County,
Wash.
Time: 15 to 20 minutes
Age: Elementary school to adult
Materials: List of the Oregon Food Bank Network's
hunger statistics
Preparation: None
Group size: 10 to 100
Procedure:
1. Tell the group members that when you shout out
a number they must silently and quickly form groups of that number.
2. Have group members walk around saying “mingle,
mingle, mingle.”
3. Shout the numbers that are listed below. Let
the students form groups that correspond to the number you shouted.
Once groups have been formed, tell the students the hunger fact
that goes with that number.

Mingle, Mingle Mingle Oregon statistics:
1. Shout the number four. Tell the group that one
in four children in Oregon and Clark County, Wash., live in a
food insecure or hungry household.
2. Shout the number five. Tell the group that one
in five people in Oregon and Clark County, Wash., asked OFB for
emergency food at some point last year.
3. Shout the number seven. Tell the group that the
minimum wage in Oregon is $7 ($7.50), while the living wage for
the Portland area is $13.56 per hour.
4. Shout the number five. Tell the group that OFB
can collect and distribute five pounds of food with each $1 donated.
