Westside Learning Garden volunteer opportunities
Dig In!
Individuals and groups help tend the garden. Typical activities include weeding, watering, planting and harvesting vegetables.
- Individuals and groups of 10 or fewer
Attend a weekly volunteer shift. All ages are welcome. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Shift schedule
Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to noon (April through September)
Thursdays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon (March through October)
To volunteer:
Large groups of volunteers ages 10 and up are especially needed from April to June and September to November.
To volunteer:
- New groups: Fill out the online group application. Select "Garden" on the interests section of the form. OFB's volunteer program staff will contact you to schedule your shift.
- Returning groups: Contact lyniguez@oregonfoodbank.org. Include your group's name, size, contact information and available dates in your message.
Team leaders
Team leaders are needed to help lead large and small groups of volunteers in the Learning Garden. A commitment of four hours per month for the gardening season is required.

Seed to Supper workshop presenters
Volunteers are needed to lead workshops on a variety of gardening topics. OFB provides workshop outlines, slides and handouts. Workshop leaders are expected to cover all information included in the workshop outline and to be comfortable enough with the subject to answer questions from participants.
