All For Good Gap Bag Project
January 20 @ 6:00 am - 6:00 pm
In response to the upcoming cuts in SNAP benefits for thousands of our neighbors, our research has shown that many individuals will lose up to $45 per month in benefits. In order to help others understand the economic impact of this loss, we will create “GAP Bags” filled with items that these individuals/families will most likely have to do without as a result. These bags (1500 to 2000) will then be distributed to organizations and individuals throughout the Portland metro area via service hubs and street canvasing from MLK Day through Global Youth Service Day in an effort to make sure that people realize the seriousness of how impactful losing $40 to $45 a month really is. Youth from age 5 to 25 are encouraged to participate.
- Youth 5 to 15 must have adult supervision. Donations of hygiene items, socks, underwear, non perishable items, shelf stable milk, etc. are appreciated.
- Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
- Closed toed shoes required.
- No court ordered community service credit will be available for this project.
