Oregon Food Bank believes no one should be hungry. With sufficient public will and the support of the entire community, we believe it is possible to eliminate hunger and its root causes.
Since 1982, Oregon Food Bank has been leading the fight against hunger in Oregon and southwest Washington by collecting and distributing food through a network of four OFB branches and 16 independent regional food banks. The OFB Network helps nearly 1 in 5 households fend off hunger. OFB also leads statewide efforts to increase resources for hungry families and to eliminate the root causes of hunger through advocacy, nutrition education, garden education and by helping communities strengthen local food systems.
Oregon Food Bank's Flow of Food
Through partnerships with our food and fund donors, and the strategic infrastructure of our distribution systems, OFB quickly and efficiently moves critically needed food and resources throughout our region.
We're effective and efficient. More than 94 cents of every dollar donated to Oregon Food Bank goes directly to fighting hunger.
We're fair and equitable. Oregon Food Bank distributes food donations throughout the Oregon and Clark County, Wash., based on an allocation system that takes each area's population and poverty statistics into account.
We're innovative. OFB's Fresh Alliance program provides nutritious, perishable food, like meat, milk and dairy, to people who are hungry statewide. Since its inception, the program has kept 16-million pounds of food from being wasted and has become a national model.
We're part of a national network. Oregon Food Bank is a member of Feeding America's national food bank network.
We're addressing hunger's root causes. In addition to providing emergency food, we are working to fight hunger's root causes through garden and nutrition education, public policy advocacy and community food systems work.
