City Officials in Action Against Hunger

On Friday, March 7th, Portland’s City Hall Atrium was a beehive of activity as nearly 50 employees from City of Portland offices and bureaus across the city volunteered their time to repackage and label health bars for Oregon Food Bank. Mayor Charlie Hales and Commissioner Dan Saltzman joined City employees to repackage over 3,000lbs of food. These repackaged bars will then be distributed to hundreds of food pantries serving low-income residents throughout the metro area.

“Thousands of Portland residents face hunger every day,” said City Commissioner Dan Saltzman. “Around this time of year, the bounty of holiday donations begins to dwindle and food pantries look to fortify their shelves. We at the City want to do our part.”

Thank you City of Portland for helping us in the fight against hunger!
