Volunteers pack 1776 disaster food boxes for Harvey victims

September 5, 2017 – Oregon Food Bank provides food assistance to Oregonians facing hunger, but we also step in when natural disaster situations require it.

This morning, volunteers packed 1776 disaster food boxes for Hurricane Harvey flood victims. The contents of the boxes are intentionally foods that can be eaten without having to cook them, if needed, such as beans, tuna, cereal, peanut butter.

Feeding America will pick-up the load this afternoon and take the food boxes to Southeast Texas Food Bank in Beaumont, Texas.

Late last month Oregon Food Bank provided food assistance for the Chetco Bar fire victims in Southern Oregon. We are also currently monitoring the fire situation in the Gorge and will respond as needed.
