Portland, Ore. — CANstruction, where art meets action in the movement against hunger, is back in downtown Portland. This beloved local event brings together construction companies and architecture firms to combat hunger through creativity and skill. CANstruction will help get resources to the million-plus individuals seeking emergency food assistance through the Oregon Food Bank Network this year.

With a 14 percent increase in visits to food assistance sites last year, the stakes are higher than ever. On Sept. 16, teams will transform canned goods and nonperishable foods into stunning sculptures, displayed at Pioneer Place Mall from Sept. 16 to 22. Admission is free, and visitors are encouraged to support the cause by “voting” for their favorite sculpture through donations, all benefiting Oregon Food Bank.

ABOUT CANstructionPDX

To feed and inspire the world – one can at a time. Canstruction® is a unique international charity which hosts exhibitions and competitions of giant whimsical and wildly inventive sculptures made entirely out of full cans of food. After they are built, the teams of architects, engineers, and contractors display their structures to the public to compete for winning titles. Recognized for our commitment to hunger relief and helping communities strengthen local food systems, the Portland event has raised more than one million meals to help fight hunger in Oregon and Clark County, Washington.
