Help Build Hunger Free Communities with KPTV, Fred Meyer and Oregon Food Bank

It’s no secret that these past few years have been incredibly challenging. So many of our families are still struggling with the ongoing economic impact of the pandemic — now layered with the rising cost of food and housing.

The need for food assistance is increasing in rural, urban and suburban communities throughout the region, further stretching the resources of state agencies and anti-hunger organizations alike. And now that pandemic emergency assistance has come to an end, we expect over a million people to seek emergency food assistance through the Oregon Food Bank Network this year — significantly more people than we saw pre-pandemic.

Our Network of 21 regional food banks and more than 1,400 free food markets, pantries, meal sites and delivery programs is moving mountains to make sure food remains available to all who need it. And everyone is welcome — regardless of race, gender, religion or immigration status.

This summer, we're partnering with KPTV and Fred Meyer to build hunger-free communities. For every dollar you donate, Oregon Food Bank can provide three meals worth of food — much more than an individual shopper can purchase at the store. Equally important is your time — our Network runs on volunteer power and our anti-hunger advocacy efforts depend on community members reaching out and making our priorities known.

The coming months will be especially challenging for so many Oregonians — and we hope everyone who’s able will join us and contribute in whatever way is meaningful to you. Together, we can end hunger for good in our communities!
