I’m on SNAP. What does H.R. 1 mean for me?

SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) cuts due to the H.R. 1 (also known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill”) will primarily impact non-citizen immigrants with some exceptions and adults who cannot meet increased work requirements. Consult your ODHS (Oregon Department of Human Services) caseworker with questions about your benefits.

What can I do if I am on SNAP benefits?

Keep using your benefits as normal. Watch for notices. Open all mail from the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS). Consult your caseworker or ODHS if you have any questions.
If your SNAP benefits are cut off and you believe it was a mistake, call the Oregon Law Center’s Public Benefits Hotline at 1-800-520-5292. They can help you understand your rights, appeal a decision or reapply for benefits. Don’t delay– there are strict deadlines for appeals.
