June 2026 Community Cultivator: Safeway Albertsons

Oregon Food Bank is proud to recognize Safeway Albertsons as our June 2026 Community Cultivator.

Hunger relief is an important pillar to the team at Safeway Albertsons. As one of our grocery partners, they support Oregon Food Bank in multiple ways throughout the year and across our Network.

On June 6, our community gathered to celebrate the work to end hunger at Bloom. As our presenting sponsor, the Safeway Albertsons Foundation had the opportunity to speak to the crowd at the sold-out event.

But their work doesn’t end at Bloom. Safeway Albertsons also invites their customers to help end hunger through a program called Bag Summer Hunger. This year, from June 3 to June 30, customers can purchase pre-filled bags of food at the register to provide essential items for local families. This program has been a consistent staple for Oregon Food Bank’s summer hunger programming for many years now. Each bag turns into pallets of essentials for our neighbors.

In addition to this support, Safeway Albertsons is also launching a national campaign July 1-7, Nourish the American Dream. Partnering with nonprofits across the country, the Albertsons Companies Foundation is working toward a collective goal of raising $5 million to help more children access the food they need to grow and thrive.

As Safeway Albertsons demonstrates, there’s no one way for businesses to get involved in ending hunger. Through volunteering, fundraising, food donations and event sponsorships, Safeway Albertsons is moving us closer to our shared future of a world where no one knows hunger.
