May 2023 Community Cultivator: First Tech Federal Credit Union

Oregon Food Bank is proud to announce First Tech Federal Credit Union as our May 2023 Community Cultivator!

Community Cultivators are engaged leaders and take strong action to advance equity and racial justice — and First Tech Federal Credit Union has been a strong supporter of our mission to end hunger and its root causes for more than a decade. Through employee volunteerism, matching gift programs and their Innovator Grants program, First Tech continues to find meaningful ways to strengthen its commitment.

“Together, we’re creating change and supporting organizations that ensure children and families have the resources they need to thrive.” - Greg Mitchell, President and CEO of First Tech Federal Credit Union

In 2022, First Tech provided more than $4 million in charitable giving to over 128 nonprofit organizations working in education and fundamental needs — using an equity lens to improve decision-making and resource allocation. The credit union also encourages employees to participate in the decision-making process and proactively explore partnerships with organizations that serve low-income populations and communities of color. Over 80 percent of First Tech employees participate in community engagement programs, directing dollars and volunteer time to nonprofit partners.

First Tech’s programs support a host of efforts to dismantle barriers, eliminate gaps and foster a more equitable future in the communities where we live and work. And they meaningfully engage with community-based organizations that support children and families, ensuring that local kids have the tools they need to learn, succeed and thrive.

First Tech is a values-aligned collaborator who shares our vision for communities that never go hungry. We greatly appreciate our continued partnership — and First Tech’s Community Commitment to set the foundation for a better future!
