Rethink Hunger: Stay Engaged to Protect Vital Food Programs

While SNAP benefits in Oregon are restored for November, we cannot look away.

On July 4, the Administration signed H.R. 1 into law, which will reduce or eliminate food assistance for hundreds of thousands of Oregonians and increase hardship across our communities. These cuts mark the largest reduction of food support in our nation’s history and will have lasting consequences for families, older adults and immigrants already struggling to make ends meet.

SNAP benefits should never have been disrupted or cut back and must continue without interruption. Food is a human right and these resources are essential for children, older adults and families already facing hardship. No one should lose access to the food they need to survive and thrive.

Watch Oregon Food Bank President Andrea Williams call on our community to stay engaged, raise your voice and take action to protect programs that ensure every person in Oregon has access to nourishing food.
